Disaster Recovery

Hurricane Helene Relief

First Baptist has sent a gift of $1,500 to the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, which is working on the ground, assessing and responding to needs. First Baptist has a long history of responding to critical needs like these with compassion and generosity. We will not, and cannot, sit by while others are hurting and in need of assistance.

PRAY AND GIVE.  Two things are needed most from us in Central Missouri at this time: prayers and money. There will be a time soon for material donations and for volunteers to go and serve. But for now, we need to remember these individuals, all relief workers, first responders, and government personnel in our daily prayers, and we need to give financially so relief organizations and local congregations are able to address the most desperate and immediate needs.

You may have organizations you give to, and if so, we encourage you to do so. If you need a suggestion, we recommend our partner, CBF. We worked closely with them in Baton Rouge and Houston after destructive flooding and saw the tremendous work they do on the ground in disaster situations. We also partnered with them in global disaster situations over the years through our prayers and donations. To learn more about their efforts and to give online to CBF, click here.   You may also send a check to FBC and mark “Disaster Response” in the memo.

GO. We will be looking into possible relief trips in the future. If you are interested in information about serving on one of these trips, contact Melissa Hatfield at 573.634.3603 or [email protected].

The need is great. The need will continue to be great for a long time as recovery will take months and years. Please keep those impacted by Hurricane Helene in your thoughts and prayers and know First Baptist is committed to the long haul with our friends, known and unknown, in the southeast.
