Everyone is Welcome at First Baptist Church (FBCJC)!

Join Us

We meet every Sunday morning in person and online. We'd love to get to know you!

When you arrive at FBC JC, you’ll find one of our members waiting to greet you at the door and direct you wherever you need to go!

Following service on Sunday, we encourage all visitors to stop by our Welcome Desk in the lobby, where you’ll meet with members of our Greeting Team. They’re available to answer any questions and will talk to you about the church.  We look forward to your visit!

Worship Service

We have one Sunday Worship service at 9:00 a.m. Most worship services feature a choir, orchestra, and praise team that lead us to encounter God. Services are also live-streamed on both YouTube and Facebook.

Welcome Families With Children

We are glad you and your family have chosen to visit First Baptist Church! We want this to be a great worship experience for you and your children. Our services welcome kids, but preschool care is available in our preschool center for children three years and younger if you wish. Please click on the link below to pre-register your children for our children’s ministry. This will save you time and help us ensure your child has a fun, encouraging, and safe visit.

Welcome Warmly!

Welcoming warmly is one of our core values. We work hard to create a warm & welcoming environment with the hope that your first Sunday will be the first of many. Enjoy a coffee, tea, water, or juice box at our cafe in the lobby, and visit our Welcome Desk for more information. Our friendly greeters will be happy to answer any questions!

What to Expect

We want your first visit to our church to be easy and pleasant. When you visit us, you’ll witness the great music, encouraging messages, friendly people, and enjoyable atmosphere that is a part of the FBC JC experience.

We have ample parking around the building. There are some challenges with hills on two sides of our building. You can park anywhere on the streets of Capitol Avenue and Monroe Streets. You may park in the parking lot on Monroe Street, the state parking garage on Monroe Street, and the lower parking lot next to our Activities Building. If you have children between birth and 5th grade, you may want to park on the Monroe side to give you quicker access to our Preschool and Children’s departments inside Door 5. If you can’t find parking on level ground, you may want to park in the lower parking lot behind the Activities Building and enter Door 4 under the covered opening. Feel free to ask any greeters stationed at most entrances if you need assistance.

Greeters are located at most entrances to the building, and there are wayfinding signs to direct you throughout the building. Our greeters and signs are available to direct you to the sanctuary for worship, a classroom for Bible study, or any specific ministry meeting area.

Don't feel like you have to dress up. Most people wear casual attire, but you are welcome to wear whatever makes you comfortable. No gorilla costumes. They freak us out.

A Bible will help you follow along in both worship and Bible Study. If you have a Bible, bring it with you. If you don’t have a Bible, copies of Scripture are in the sanctuary pews and free for you to keep and in the Bible study classrooms for your use.

You’ll want to arrive 10-15 minutes before our 9 am service so you have plenty of time to park and get settled in before the service begins. We have free coffee available.

Yes. There is reserved parking on Capitol Avenue and in the parking lot on the east side of the church building. You may also park in the lower parking lot behind the Activities Building. Enter the main building under the covered opening and take the elevator to whatever floor you need. Feel free to ask any greeters stationed at most entrances if you need assistance. We have wheelchairs at most entrances and will be ready to help you get to where you’re going.

Our services welcome kids, but preschool care is available in our preschool center for children three years and younger if you wish during the 9:00 a.m. service. If you bring your kids into our services and they need a little break, the lobby is a great place to let them walk around.

Our Preschool area is on the third floor, and our children’s area is on the second floor (along with our youth department). We offer preschool childcare from bed babies up to kindergarten on the third floor. Children (K-5) meet on the second floor. Youth (grades 6-12) meet in the Refuge Room on the 2nd floor. We recommend you park on the Monroe Street side of the building and enter Door 5. Greeters will be there to help you get where you’re going.

To simplify your first Sunday family check-in, make a new family profile before you come!

Our worship style is blended. Most services feature a choir, orchestra, and praise team. We want our worship to be a gift to God, where God is our focus. Messages offer insightful messages, revealing the truths of the Bible to help prepare and challenge us in our daily walk. Services are also live-streamed on both YouTube and Facebook. Past worship services and messages may be accessed here.

We invite our guests to fill out a Guest Information Card in the pews and simply drop it in the offering box at the back so that we can record your visit. Or you can complete this online card. We’ll never ask you to stand up or call you out in any way. We want you to have a wonderful experience at First Baptist and strive to create a friendly and comfortable environment to make you feel right at home.

We hope you’ll join us soon at FBCJC!

We have a place for everyone!

Kids

At First Baptist Church, we believe that children are blessings from God. We are committed to guiding children to develop a life-long, loving relationship with God! We welcome partnering with you in your child's faith formation as we provide a safe, nurturing environment.

Youth

Refuge is the youth ministry of First Baptist Church, Jefferson City, Missouri. We create environments and build relationships to encourage and equip young people in grades 6-12 to pursue intimacy with God, community with believers, and influence with others.

Young Adults

DWELL is a community of young adults ranging from ages 18 to 25 who are pursuing Jesus together. We believe that under Jesus, we have everything in common. So whether you're a student, working, single, married, or someone in between, this is a space for you to belong.

Adults

No matter what age or stage of life you’re in, we want you to be able to connect at FBC JC. Young Adults & College, Kids or no kids, Empty Nesters & Seniors, and everyone who doesn’t quite fit into a neat category can find a community ready to grow alongside you.
